The reality of the rise of the AI era.
They reduced the head count and told everyone to become a frontend dev.
In my company, more than 30 people got fired. I'm alone in my team now and being asked to do SEO and content creation and design as well.
Where I work, 90% of the company are AI/ML engineers. They vibe-code the frontend on their own. I was hired as a "Design Engineer", so I have to vibe-code prototypes all day long.
That's a complete opposite of what was marketed. People are getting fired, those who are left are being overloaded by numerous additional tasks. It's now not even about "many hats." Looks more like slavery. You either submit, shut up and do the job as you are told or fuck off.
I think this will blow up occasionally until we face some huge fuck up which will critically affect people's lives and only after that will there be a pushback. No way around it. That's the nature of people's stupidity.
And it's interesting how the whole industry jumped into complete acceptance of shitcode after years of TDD and aiming for 100% uptime. I guess now HRs got a new guidebook.
