I have a MacBook Pro 2015. I got it in 2018, because at that time my job required me to use macOS. It was really nice to use. Up until Big Sur. That update fucked up the UX completely. The OS became very slow, and no further updates fixed it. And I was too lazy to roll back. And then Apple stopped releasing updates completely, so I was stuck with that sluggish, outdated piece of crap.
At some point, I started considering buying a new laptop. I was choosing between Star Labs and HP Dev One. The Framework was not as developed back then. For money reasons, I went with the Dev One. And it was a mistake. It's very poorly done: the touchpad is unusable, the lid is flimsy, the display has shitty viewing angles and the support was not helpful. Regarding my issues with the touchpad they made an offer to make a refund, to which I agreed. Now I'm using this laptop only because it's more powerful than my MacBook. And I think I'm going to be using it until it dies. Most likely I won't be able to sell it for a reasonable amount of money and by using external input devices it becomes bearable.
As for the MacBook, I ended up installing Fedora on it, and it's an amazing laptop again. I can still feel the lack of power, but otherwise, for non-heavy tasks, it's just perfect. I also replaced the stock SSD with a new 1TB one. Feels like this was the last perfect piece of hardware from Apple. Along with the iPhone SE, 1st generation.
