Recently I made this post. And about a couple of weeks ago, I became a victim of shitty greedy business.
I booked a flight with a layover. The first half of the route was done by WizzAir., the second one - by Ryanair. The ticket seller was Kiwi. The moment I came to the airport I got a message from Kiwi saying that WizzAir's plane is delayed and that my whole flight is disrupted. And that I had to take action and the only option they provided me with was to apply for a refund.
Now imagine yourself in this situation. It's flight day, you are at the airport, you checked out of your accommodation. That's it, you are going home. And suddenly, the people whose job is to plan routes, tell you that your whole flight is disrupted and the only thing they can offer you is a refund. How fucked up is this? What is the first thing you start thinking?
I went to the departures display and, yeah, my plane was delayed for 2 hours. And this left very little time for the layover. And it was an international flight, so more time on passport control. And the ticket seller told me that I was fucked, and I needed to apply for a refund.
I did what they told me, applied for the refund and bought another ticket from the layover airport for a later time. The moment I was boarding WizzAir's plane, I got a message from Kiwi that I could only get a refund for the Ryanair's flight. Why? It was WizzAir who fucked up. Guided by common sense and logic, it is them who should provide me with the refund.
The closer we were getting to the layover airport, the more I understood that I could actually make it. I saw that I had around 1 hour. If I'm quick, I can still board the second plane.
We landed, I tried not to lose time and tried to get to my gate. I made it just in time. They almost finished boarding the bus that carries passengers to the plane. Witnessing this nonsense, I thought, how the fuck can this be called "disrupted"? Why the hell did they offer me the refund as the only option in my case? Why didn't they say something like "There was a significant shift in the schedule, but you can still make it. But you'll need to hurry up!" No, they told me that my flight is disrupted, and I need to apply for a refund.
Later Kiwi told me to fuck off, because, according to them, both airlines did their flights, they provided their services. And they didn't care about the wording in their message. Seems like, according to them, their clients should just ignore their messages and make their own estimations. WizzAir was even more ridiculous. They told me that they could not be held accountable for any spending caused by their poor service. And this is something you agree with by using their services.
So, in the end, the shitty Kiwi's algorithms that are responsible for route planning fucked up and made me waste money and, according to the shitty WizzAir terms of service, you can go fuck yourself if you faced financial damage caused by their service. Fucking amazing.
This whole thing made me think that now you just can't rely on anything and anyone. They can write in their policy that they don't give a fuck and that's it. You got food poisoning in a restaurant? Oh, sorry, according to our policy, we are not accountable for this. Your car caught fire the next day you bought it? Oh, we are very sorry to hear this, but according to our policy we just can't do anything about it. Your kid broke a leg while at school? Oh, too bad, our policy says that teachers can't be held accountable for any physical damage.
This is fucked up. And nobody cares. And governments allow these pieces of shit to do all this and ignore any responsibility. Such a great new world.
